The Federal Government says outstanding Nigeria public servant wage award payments will be made before mid August as efforts continue to clear promotion arrears.

Nigeria public servant wage award payments are expected to begin before the middle of August, as the Federal Government has assured workers that the outstanding arrears will soon be settled.

The assurance was given after a meeting between officials of the Federal Government and the leadership of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council, where concerns over delayed wage award and promotion arrears were discussed.

Government representatives said the necessary arrangements are being finalized to ensure the outstanding ₦35,000 wage award is paid to eligible federal public servants. They also confirmed that work is ongoing to clear outstanding promotion arrears.

The meeting followed growing concerns from labour unions over delays in the payment process, with workers calling on the government to fulfill its commitment as soon as possible.

Officials said the government remains committed to improving the welfare of public servants and acknowledged the important role civil servants play in delivering public services across the country.

If the payment schedule proceeds as planned, eligible federal workers are expected to receive the outstanding wage award before the middle of August, while discussions on other welfare issues are expected to continue between the government and labour representatives.
